Driving in Iceland is very likely a lot different than what you’re used to. Due to extreme weather or harsh roads there’s a possibility that your rental car might get damaged. Repair- and insurance cost in Iceland is very high, and we want you to be free of that cost. Iceland’s insurance system is very complicated so we’ve made it simple by putting our options into three packages.

All of our rental cars come with Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) as standard. The standard CDW has a 380.000 ISK self-risk for normal passenger cars and 450.000 ISK self-risk for 4wd and electric cars.

Please notice that no insurance package covers damage caused by river crossing, damage to rims, undercarriage or the engine.

Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) – All of our insurance packages come with SCDW but with different self-risks. So this takes the standard 380.000/450.000 ISK self-risk and lowers it to either 150.000, 100.000 or 50.000 ISK.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) – When it comes to health we take no chances. All accidental emergency and health cost is included.

Gravel Protection (GP) – Our road are quite harsh at times so you may get small rocks or due to weather some gravel beating on the outside of your car. If the windscreen or headlights crack or there are dots in the outside of your car, the gravel protection takes care of you – self-risk 0 ISK.

Tire protection (TI) – The tire protection takes care of all of the reimbursement or repair of a flat tire, incorrectly balanced tire and bad valves. No insurance covers damage to rims or any damage caused by off road driving.

Theft Protection (TP) – Covers theft of the rental car. In case of a theft the standard self-risk varies from 220.000-450.000 ISK. The theft protection covers that for you.

Sandstorm protection (SAAP) – No other insurance covers damage from ash or sandstorms. The damage to paint, glass, plastics, lights and other exterior parts can cost up to 2.000.000 ISK. With our gold insurance package this cost goes down to 50.000 (lowest self-risk).
